Conversations in the Disciplines: Sustaining Rural Populations is a second monograph from the Decker School of Nursing addressing the needs of rural people. This collection of papers results from a conference held in Binghamton in Spring 2004. Authors from across disciplines and across the nation discuss a wide range of topics including school-based health services, the rural geriatric population, agricultural workers, women with heart failure, dental health, and rural men who have sex with men. Professional issues such as collaboration, nurse education, concepts, research measurement, and barriers to research are examined in relation to rural people. The intention of this publication is to focus awareness of professionals on not only the needs, but also on solutions to sustain rural populations.
